Melatonin: 10 Melatonin Side Effects
Melatonin Side Effect #2: Interferes With Pregnancy
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please think twice if you want to take melatonin to get a good sleep. Although there is no clear study specifically indicating melatonin’s side effects on infants or fetuses, considering the fact that it can cause side effects in an adult, such side effects could well be passed to a baby. Therefore, it is not a good idea to take melatonin when you are pregnant or will feed a baby with breast milk.
In addition, melatonin also may interfere with ovulation and can lead to infertility. Therefore, if you are thinking about having a baby, you should also stay away from melatonin.
